Short Description: The research program explores the European Integration insights to find out the (potential) inter-regional dynamics of globalization through focusing on the following linkages:
- European Identity Formation and an Inter-Regional Dialogue for Globalization,
- European Governance and an Inter-Regional Polity for Global Democracy,
- European Market and a Free and Fair Global Economic Governance, and
- European Model of Regional Integration and Inter-Regional Dynamics of Globalization.
Therefore, the main question of the research program is how insights of the European Integration might assist to investigate (potential) reactions of the macro-regions vis-à-vis the challenges of a democratic and fair globalization, and how experiences from the European Integration Model might help manage the (potential) interactions of the macro-regions to transfer the anarchical nature of the international society.
The research assumes that the insights might be utilized at four levels:
- Introducing an inter-regional approach to globalization in which a cultural dialogue among the macro-regions paves the way for developing a global common identity as the foundation for a global society;
- Defining global governance as the development of an inter-regional political structure;
- Redeveloping the contemporary international economic structure towards an inter-regional economic architecture; and
- Providing models for successful regional integrations in other parts of the world and democratic integration of the macro-regions into a global society.
